Once, long ago, a giant was given the job of digging waterways throughout the whole of the Maya Mountain range.  The gods saw where it was necessary to distribute the water evenly in the area rather than having one large pool at the beginning of the mountain range.  Realizing how much easier it would be for himself and the birds and animals to have water any where they go to look for food, the giant immediately started to gorge out the rivers and creeks.  He worked from sun up until sun down every day for one month.  His will to finish the assignment as soon as possible was so intense that he even regulated the amount of food he ate and the amount of rest he took. He ate one small meal every morning and slept for six hours every night.  When he had opened all the rivers into the sea he decided to have a large meal and a long sleep.  When he left the sea shore and started to climb back into the mountains, he saw a flock of wild turkeys and decided that a couple of them would make him a good meal.  He started to chase them up the side of the mountain.  By the time he reached the top of the mountain he had caught of them. He cleaned all eight turkeys, made his fire, and started to roast them.  By this time he was very tired, very hungry, and very sleepy.  The smell of the roasting turkeys gave him a huge appetite.  He took the first turkey off the roasting stick and gobbled it down.  The meat was so delicious that he decided to eat all eight of them.  After eating he went to a nearby stream and drank himself full of water.  He then searched for a good place where the wind was blowing hard and cool so he could lay down and have a good, long sleep.

              YAM WITS RESORT AND RESTAURANT,
Which is just a short distance from the Sibun River Bridge, you can see him shifting his position away from the sun in the morning and in the evening.  The gods rewarded him for the wonderful job he did by letting him rest where everyone can see him and remember what he did for the good of the beautiful country of BELIZE in CENTRAL AMERICA, for if he did not complete his job we would not be able to enjoy swimming, fishing and canoeing in our picturesque rivers today.
